The music is average quality, loud but not obnoxious, and the service around the pool is generally fantastic. There are tonnes of options for seating depending on your preferences. The Pool: The pool is gorgeous, well laid out, and has palm trees throughout with submerged seating, as well as a pool bar. Although not really necessary unless you have mobility limitations, the resort offers rides in golf carts if need be. The grounds are so well kept, clean, and beautifully maintained that we were amazed. It is a big property, but nothing too crazy. Set on a beautiful golf course with only one resort near it, you are literally left with a feeling of utter peacefulness. The Resort: This resort is the most gorgeous, peaceful, and quiet resort we have been at, by far. We are not activity orientated vacationers. Our style of vacay is plunk down on the beach, read lots of books, and recharge our batteries. Even though the food and drink were a major disappointment we still had a great time.īackground: This is our 3rd Secrets resort (Huatulco & Puerto Vallarta x2) and we love this brand so much that we joined the Unlimited Vacation Club last year. And, if you want the premium liquor you should specify or you will get "well". The Mai Tai I had was not even close to any version of the real thing (because it requires fresh ingredients). As for the drinks - none of the mixers used were made with fresh juices or scratch made ingredients. You will not starve as there are some decent things to eat (actually the buffet was some of the best food we had during our stay) but the main restaurants are nowhere near world class. However, if your main interest is food and drink and know what good food and drink are and what it takes to make you will be disappointed with Secrets in Cabo. The beach and beach bar were a very nice place to relax. The grounds, hotel, and facilities are beautiful and well cared for. There are a lot of things we really liked about the resort. I would have given 3.5 but that is not an option and I do not believe it deserves a 4. This was the way the majority of the staff was here. I asked him if that was part of his job? He answered not generally but he said that if any guests need anything that if he could do something about he would make it happen. Well 20 minutes later he shows up at our door with a full case of water. We are big bottled water drinkers and the mini bar only holds 4, as I was coming out of my room I ran into the security guy and asked where I could get some more, he said he would make sure it was taken care of. I regret that I didn’t get the name of the security guy that was working building 2 our first day. Thank You turndown crew, you are awesome. They did the entire bed and room in rose petals, filled our tub with some great bubbles and just made it perfect. Our 25th anniversary is not until Feb 19, I ran down to the front desk earlier in the day of our last night and asked if there was anything special that I could have done for my wife. GREAT TIME!!!! Housekeeping was top notch, our room was cleaned each day, floors mopped, shower cleaned and beds made perfectly. The bartenders were great, they made good drinks and would make anything you wanted. My wife and I are not generally night owls but on one night we went to the dance club Desires, we had a tremendous time in there dancing and listening to music, the DJ would play all requests and made it really fun. We had a great time watching the evening shows. We did the Hydra spa and I would Highly recommend it. This was our only negative of the entire stay. It was horribly Slow, to many waiters not paying attention to anyone and not taking care of the patrons. The only complaint we had the entire trip was the service in Portafino. All the restaurants that we ate in were very good. The Market Cafe was great it filled us up every morning and every lunch we ate there. The staff is always friendly, never once did we pass an employee and not receive an hola or hello the entire time we were there.
